I met Matt at BlogWorld this year and immediately took a liking to him. When he told me a few stories about his blog and the things that have happened to him over the last year, I knew that we had to have him on the podcast as a guest. I think you’ll find his story to be funny and inspirational.
Here’s some of the highlights:
- 6-7 Years of Failures that Didn’t Lead Anywhere
- How Matt Got His Book Deal on Twitter with Just 6 Readers on His Blog
- Why Matt has Started Blogs that Started and Stopped
- How to Deal with a Creative Block and Turn Your Day to Day Life into Interesting Content
- The Trap of Boring Corporate Blogs
- Why You Should Only Focus on the 10% of Readers Who Resonate with Your Message
- The Amazing Power of Your First Few Readers
- The Power of Inventing Rules to Develop Authority
- How He Got 100,000 Visitors from StumbleUpon
- Why Matt Has Invested Substantial Amounts of Money is Efforts
- How to Connect with Editors and Publishers on Twitter

This was so fun to listen to! I loved the "failure" stories as much as the "success" once. Keeping it real! I LOVE it! BlogcastFM Matthew Kimberley
MayiCarles Matthew Kimberley This has always been one of my favorite stories because of the number of failures that ultimately led to something big. We lose this willingness to fail as we go through life and people label us with grades and other measures that are not a really indicator of what we're capable of.

Really nice replay! Another good reminder that you have to start failing if you ever hope to succeed! (I think the Universe is trying to tell me something...)
LivCampbell Thanks Liv. I think you'll see that happen in your own journey soon.

I like the idea of focusing on the 10% of visitors who actually resonate with your blog. They are the ones who respond to your writing, and who spread the word.
