Ali Hale(@alihale) Discusses Paid Writing for Major Blogs, Massive Subscriber Spikes, and Launching Succcessful Ebooks with A Small Email List

by Srinivas Rao

If you read any self help blog, or any well known blog for that matter, then it’s likely you have heard of Ali Hale. I consider her an icon for blogging success and hard work. She really impressed me with everything she shared. In this interview Ali revealed TONS of the secrets to her ongoing success. Here’s just a few of the highlights:

  • Why you might want to consider starting over if you are bored of your subject (even after a year)
  • Why you shouldn’t start off with a topic you think will make money
  • Getting over the 6 month hurdle and hitting momentum
  • Why blogging can’t be a chore
  • Why guest posting is the #1 Traffic Strategy
  • 3 Tips to get a 50-100 subscriber spike from your guest post
  • How to get a series of paid writing opportunities on major blogs (and Ali’s staff blogging course and The Blogger’s Guide to Effective Writing)
  • Why you can still launch a product even if you don’t have a massive email list
  • Why you need to have your own blog in order to get the most of your guest posting efforts

Ali writes a blog, Aliventures, about leading a productive and purposeful life (get the RSS feed here). As well as blogging, she writes fiction, and is studying for an MA in Creative Writing.

Cheers Dustin, and glad to be keeping it real and reassuring. :-)

Aww, thanks Alex! I'm not sure the business skills are very deliberate -- I've probably been pretty lucky in "meeting" some great and supportive people (like you!) online.

I really enjoyed this interview with Ali. I see her *everywhere* and I found it cool (and a bit relieving in a way) that she doesn't have huge subscriber numbers on her personal blog or a big email list. It was very encouraging to hear that she's had success selling her e-books even without a big launch strategy as well.

Thanks for keeping it real, Ali!

As usual, quality information from Ali. She really has the uncanny ability to combine good writing along with good business skills to create an impressive online presence.
