Writing content is hard enough, and then add in an action step, links to other pages on your blog, any SEO words you’re using, grammar and spell check, editing, using as least amount of words as possible.
Then after all this you read it again and you want to cry because after all the effort you put into the post it sucks – it’s boring, no one cares about what you’re talking about, you don’t even make the point you were trying to make and you look weak and pathetic.
Familiar story right?
I’ve had it before too. I was just trying to start off my website and get some content up as fast and good as I could. I would write and write and write and then realise I had forgotten the message I was trying to convey.
It was infuriating!
I was trying so hard to change the world and share my knowledge and I couldn’t even get a single blog post out that was a mirror of my vision. I even wrote posts like that on other people’s sites that weren’t even close to the type of person I am.
This was getting ridiculous: I had the right kind of headlines; I had studied all those kinds of content and blogging sites like problogger, social triggers and copyblogger. Then I watched a YouTube video and the message was so simple I felt like a ditz:
“Make yourself cry”
The video was all about if you reach that tear jerking, hairs stand up, tingly juicy point when writing the energy comes through no matter if it has the right headline or the SEO is perfect or not. All those things help but if your message and point isn’t clear and authentic – what are the people you got to read it even going to get out of it?
So how can you do this?
Share your story – I decided I needed to help every person I could live their best life everyday no exceptions when my dad ended his three year journey with cancer. He wanted to create a 500 year legacy of his remembrance after his death and it’s my mission to share everything he taught me and prepared for me to learn about after he died to everybody I can reach.
While my dad wasn’t perfect he somehow prepared a journey for me step by step of what I need to know next to succeed. First he told me about raw food and healthy living, next it was an urge that I should do a course in business, then it was to create a legacy and life coaching business out of this course so that I can start teaching right away what I already know.
Even the tools I use to coach people have been provided for me to experience myself through my dad. He was so generous that he has given me an entire life of pre prepared success to live and all I have to do is take one action after another after another.
Now I’m not saying it’s great that my dad died, in fact there is still a gaping hole in my life that I live with everyday. Some days I do great dedications to him like writing to help make the hole a bit less noticeable and other days I just want to lash out at him for all the mess he left behind.
What my point is that your personal story is more powerful than any knowledge that you have. The most powerful blogs and content you can ever write are when you can combine to two. I have a massive hole in my life where a father should be supporting me and saying a speech at my 21st – I don’t though so, I share this story to inspire others to see the beautiful creation they can create out of their own personal journey. Then they can touch other people’s hearts as well and it all started out with a blog post about a girl wanting to share her father – Mark Hulse’s legacy.
So this is my challenge to you:
What is your story and what do you want to share with the world from it?
Write it down right now.
Love and Fabuliciousness
